Essential Southeast Seattle Collective Spotlight
The Essential Southeast Seattle (ESES) Collective is a community-based organization serving neighborhoods from Beacon Hill to Rainier Beach. They formed in response to the pandemic impact on Seattle small businesses, and together launched an online directory that includes southeast Seattle businesses and nonprofit organizations that are open to the public or virtually serving customers.
The five-district collective created the ESES Marketplace to offer a free ‘e-commerce ready’ community tool to help increase visibility in an increasingly digital world. 25 Noteworthy Restaurants To Try For Fall 2021 Seattle Restaurant Week – EverOut Seattle

Frugal gourmands everywhere rejoice over Seattle Restaurant Week, which runs this year from October 24–November 6 and lets diners tuck into prix-fixe menus at a slew of different restaurants hoping to lure new customers with singularly slashed prices. Due to the continuing pandemic, the format has been adapted a bit: This fall, restaurants have the flexibility to offer $20 lunches, $35 and/or $50 dinners, and can offer takeout, delivery, and/or onsite dining. Over 200 restaurants are participating, so it can be daunting to figure out where you want to eat first. We’ve rounded up this list of restaurants worth trying so you can make the most of this event—everywhere from Karachi Cowboys and Korochka Tavern to Taku and Communion.

Give A Meal Spotlight
Chef Kristi Brown, owner of That Brown Girl Cooks! and Communion prepares meals for the community.
Through the Give a Meal promotion during Seattle Restaurant Week, participating venues are offering diners the opportunity to provide a free meal to a community member in need by adding a $10 donation with the purchase of their meal. Each donation represents a meal made with locally grown ingredients through the Good Food Kitchens program, who’s goal is to distribute over 50,000 free meals to the community over the course of the next year. Good Food Kitchens is a food assistance, economic development, and local food resilience program serving King County. Good Food Kitchens provides funds directly to restaurants to prepare meals for those in need, helping to keep their doors open and workers employed safely, while purchasing from local farms and producers and creating long-term local supply chain relationships.
Inspired by the Seattle Community Kitchen Collective and the tireless and creative restaurateurs and chefs who are working to combat hunger and food insecurity locally, and modeled after the amazing work of World Central Kitchen, Good Food Kitchens is raising funds and awareness to support the following community kitchens:

The legendary Cedars Restaurant on Brooklyn has been within the heart of the U-District for over 45 years.
