An undeniable part of Seattle’s diverse culinary scene, food pop-ups serve dishes hard to find anywhere else. From traditional family recipes to an emphasis on a specific dish, type of food, or baked goods, pop-ups offer a lower-barrier entry to the restaurant industry. They also provide a lifeline during tough times like the pandemic, and today they’ve evolved into a space where chefs — including many from BIPOC communities — experiment, innovate, and share their culinary visions. They showcase what makes Seattle’s food scene so special: a blend of hustle, independence, diversity, and creativity.
Some pop-ups operate regularly out of “ghost kitchen” commissary spaces, or weekly at farmers markets; some are special one-off events, and sometimes a pop-up can even be a route to establishing a brick and mortar restaurant down the road. That was the case for Chef José Garzón, who started Latinx street food pop-up Garzón in 2019. The overwhelming success of Garzón (as well as his other pop-up concepts like Chifa Baby! and Lola’s Supper Club), led to the opening of his BAD CHANCLA on Capitol Hill this year.

The account highlights an ever-changing lineup of events, reflecting the diverse backgrounds of the chefs who bring their unique flavors and creativity to Seattle’s food culture. Make a plan to try different pop-ups throughout Seattle Restaurant Week — you just might be getting a taste of what could become the next big thing in Seattle’s culinary scene.
Here’s some SRW participating pop-ups you have to try:
For SRW, grayseas pies is offering both lunch ($35) and dinner ($65) menus for pickup, featuring chicken or mushroom adobo pies, and apple miso dessert pies. Pre-order from grayseas pies’ website and pick up at Brown Sugar Baking in the Central District.
Here the focus is on laminated pastries and floral cakes with local and seasonal ingredients. For Seattle Restaurant Week, on Nov 1st, Maddy’s is offering a few options of cupcake boxes for pickup at Molly’s Bottleshop in Ballard, The $35 and $50 boxes feature flavors like yuzu and passionfruit, as well as cake slices and a cookie, with gluten free options available.
Family-run Pashtun Palace offers authentic Afghan recipes with locally-sourced ingredients. Owner Baseerah immigrated from Afghanistan 20 years ago and recently started her food business, selling at the Lake City Farmers Market throughout the summer. Pick up Afghan recipes like traditional Bolani, Kabobs, fragrant Kabuli rice, and a sweet Afghan cookie at Burke Gilman Brewing Company on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays during Seattle Restaurant Week. Lunch is $20. Dinner is $35.
Where ATL meets the 206! Chef DeCoda Reese has held a love of food in her entire being since childhood, when her family’s Jamaican heritage met American Soul Food in her mother’s kitchen. Coda’s Kitchen originally was meant to launch and grow in Georgia, but (luckily for us) life brought her and her immediate family to South King County, where she is currently operating at the global food hall Spice Bridge on Oct. 26, Nov. 2, and Nov. 9.
This French pastry pop-up will be at Drip Coffee in the Central District on Oct. 30 and Nov. 1. with $20 tasting boxes: on Oct. 30, there will be boxes of canelés (vanilla rum, Earl Grey, black sesame bliss, and cardamom chai); and on Nov. 1: boxes of kouign-aman and petits sablés.
Leicha is a ground tea made of grains, legumes, and tea leaves. Made from a traditional recipe from Taiwan, this earthy tea has a touch of sweetness, and SRW is a great opportunity to try it! For SRW, Leichacha will pop-up at Cone & Steiner General store on Friday, Nov. 1, from 4 – 7 p.m. Boxes priced at $20 or $35 include leicha for one or two, and leicha butter mochi or rice krispies.
Pick up a $20 pack of delicious baked goodies by small batch Panderia, Pan de La Selva. Pan de La Selva highlights Latin flavors using local ingredients. For Seattle Restaurant Week, each box comes with tres leches chocolate cake with Salvadorean horchata and poached plums, Pan de Muerto with salted dulce de leche, and a chocolate chunk cornmeal cookie with chili sea salt. For every package sold, $1 will be donated to the Give a Meal program. Don’t miss this special treat, available at Aquí Mercado on Nov. 1 and at Bonito Cafe on Nov. 7.
Inspired by their mixed Filipino, German, and Mexican heritage, Mixt Cafe is offering panadero boxes reflective of their diasporic experience. Each box contains: Pretzel’d Pandesal, fall adobo focaccia, Panqué Especiale (smoked cheddar, pandan, nixtamalized yellow Washington corn), and Pan de concha with fall spices, green Szechuan pepper, and sweet potato. Boxes are $35 and will be available for pickup at Mixed Pantry in Belltown or Archipelago in Hillman City. $2 of every panadero box will be donated to Good Food Kitchens through the Give a Meal campaign.
Jason and Lauren are on a mission to bring locally sourced meats to bold, adventurous barbecue flavor. For SRW, Hog Wild is offering a $35 special which includes a half order of hot and tangy chicken wings, Piglet BBQ combo with your choice of meat, and a dark cherry brownie for dessert. Catch them at The Tin Hat in Phinney Ridge on Oct. 27 and Nov. 3, from 5 – 9 p.m.
Southeast Asian dessert pop-up CocoPandan is offering items like their Signature Ondeh Cake, made with pandan and coconut chantilly; thousand layer cake; steamed layer cake made with coconut milk and fresh pandan juice; chewy ube brownies with cream cheese filling; serimuka Kueh; Talam Kueh (coconut bites infused with pandan or pumpkin). Their signature box ($35) and vegan boxes ($20) will be available at their pop-ups on Nov. 2 and Nov. 9 at Cafe Aloe in Bellevue. Pre-orders are highly recommended.
Duncan’s Bread x A Butter Place
What’s better than bread and butter? You’ll want to catch this special SRW collab with Duncan’s Bread and A Butter Place. Duncan’s Bread will feature English muffins and seeded rolls, made without any artificial ingredients or preservatives. A Butter Place specializes in high quality butter made with milk from Washington Jersey cows. For this pop-up, A Butter Place will offer their peach pie, cajun miso, salted, and blackberry sage butters. Find them at Fast Fashion Brewing on Saturday Nov. 2 and Thursday Nov. 7 and Locust Cider on Nov. 9.
This Italian-inspired pop-up uses local ingredients. For SRW, Cafe Lolo is offering a three-course meal and wine for two for $65. Start with the bitter green salad with grape molasses vinaigrette, then fresh pasta with herby ricotta and roasted poblano peppers or duck and chorizo ragu, and finish with semolina cake with seasonal jam and whipped cream. It’s the perfect date at MoRa in Roosevelt on Nov. 1 and 8.
Specializing in Sang-Ka-Ya sweet sticky rice and other Thai desserts that can be difficult to find around the city, Thai Desserts Collective is offering a special set of four Sang-Ka-Ya this fall: the classic Egg Custard, Smoked Coconut, Candied Shrimp (a fan favorite!), and Candied Fish. Grab your set for $20 on Oct. 27, Nov. 2, and Nov. 3 along with your special Seattle Restaurant Week congee at Secret Congee in Ballard.
Sweet Dream Bakes specializes in custom cake art inspired by Asian flavors like ube, pandan, and matcha, with a passion for creating light, not-too-sweet treats. Head to Little Saigon’s Hello Em cafe on Nov. 9 from 11 – 2 p.m. for $20 boxes of South Asian treats like Vietnamese coffee nougat crisp, or a $35 lunchbox cake — your choice of hojicha or strawberry flavor, and choice of design.
Popping up at Pioneer Square’s The Pastry Project on Nov. 2, Lady Grey Cake Design is offering $20 or $35 cake and cookie box options. Choose your cake slices (Birthday cake with yellow cake, chocolate buttercream, and raspberry sauce; or Cookies + Cream with Oreo cream cheese filling). With the $35 box, you can add on cookies like banana toffee or chocolate chip.
Try authentic West African flavors this Seattle Restaurant Week with any of House of Naku’s options, not typically offered on their menu: an assortment of meat pies with marinated meat, roasted potatoes, and sweet peppers ($20), Egusi soup with Fufu ($35), Chicken Yassa ($35), or Oxtail Pepper Soup ($50). Pick up your fresh meal in West Seattle or order your meal delivered on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays this Seattle Restaurant Week. These meals were specially curated for SRW and will only be available during the promotion!
Chef Caroline of Taste of Congo grew up helping her mother cook as a caterer in the Congolese capital, Kinshasa, and today brings fresh Congolese flavors to Tukwila at Spice Bridge Global Food Hall. This Seattle Restaurant Week, grab a friend and head to Spice Bridge to try her sets, each serving two: Chicken Moyo served with plantains ($35) or Chicken Palm Nut Soup with fufu, traditional pounded cassava ($50).
